Since 1990, I have felt so blessed to be able to spread a message I believe so strongly about, in the community I love and that has been so loyal to us. John and I always had a vision of creating a destination where Wellington residents and visitors could achieve their ideal mental and physical health by providing fitness and wellness services offered by the best professionals in the industry. For 28 years, we have been able to realize that vision and, as you can see below, many of the same people who were with us from the start are still a part of our Ultima family today!
Through these last 18 years my family and I have faced some seemingly insurmountable challenges. I am thankful that through all of this we have continued with our vision for a healthier mind, body and spirit. Although we have made great strides, there is more to be done. Six years ago, when John died, our hearts were broken. We established The Merrell Family Foundation in an effort to heal while helping others. Our mission was, and still is, to increase awareness of mental health resources and help end the stigma of mental illness. We will achieve this goal through the support and funding of existing mental health resources in the community as well as through community engagement aimed at educating the public on mental health.
As I enter the next phase of my life, I want to utilize my time to help grow our foundation while also having the time to spend with my beautiful grandchildren, family and friends. I am beyond grateful that through the dedication of our incredible management team, my daughter, Jess, and her business partner, Dan, we have developed a business plan that will allow Ultima to thrive and grow into the future. They have the same vision that John and I had and the energy and resources to make it happen.
I’m looking forward to continuing to fostering the relationships I have been so grateful to have made all these years.
