A simple desire to lose weight after having two children is what sparked my interest in fitness over 30 years ago. What happened after that would prove to be a life changing experience for myself as well as my family. From someone that did no exercise at all, I evolved from barely being able to run ¼ mile to running marathons. But the greater benefit was how physiologically it impacted every part of my life which inspired me to educate myself as to why this occurred.
Those first steps have given me the opportunity to impact the people in my life and community for over 25 years and I feel truly blessed to work with and for such wonderful individuals.
After growing up in Wellington and attending the University of North Florida, Jessica worked in advertising in NY and LA for nearly 10 years developing campaigns for brands such as The Home Depot, Lionsgate during the release of The Hunger Games, USAA and Arby’s. Her decision to move back to Florida was grounded in wellness as she is always seeking to find balance in her life and improve her overall well-being. She is excited to put her expertise to work in a place that is so special to her and to be surrounded by familiar faces as well as meet many new ones.
Judy has been in the health and fitness industry since 1994. After graduating from Penn State University, she moved to Florida in February, 2000 and has been a part of the Ultima/Xtreme family ever since. Judy started at Ultima Fitness as their General Manager but as her life changed so did her position. Judy is currently the Director of the Back Office as well as the Director of the Front Desk, Kids Club and Group Fitness Departments. She has taught various group fitness classes over the years and is currently on the schedule teaching indoor cycling. Outside of the club she spends most of her time with her son Dillon who is very active in t-ball.
The director of Xtreme Tae Kwon Do, Grandmaster Gustavo Pope; started training in the martial arts at a very young age and for over 35 year has dedicated his life to teach others. He has achieved the current rank of 8th degree black belt and has earned the title of Grandmaster. Since Achieving his first Dan Black Belt in 1979 he has enjoyed teaching both children and adults.
Using that passion he was able to gain himself a full scholarship to a Division I university, where he played for four years. After that final season and in the closing months of his last semester he continued training, but now it was on his own. College football may have been over but his desire for training never faded. During this training, he developed a love and passion for fitness, even more than he already had. Javonti earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management which required a 600 hour internship to graduate. This is what led him to Ultima.
Growing up in Royal Palm Beach, Javonti was looking to find a fitness facility close to home where he could complete his internship hours necessary to graduate. Ultima was the perfect fit. Upon completion of the internship he was hired on and within a year worked his way up to Associate Director. He is very excited to be working in such an incredible industry and hopes to positively impact the lives of all the beautiful people he will meet along his journey!
Growing up on the island of Haiti, playing soccer and tennis had always been a part of his everyday life. Once established in America, throughout his high school years he was an avid volleyball player. He had the rewarding opportunity in Naples to coach an 8th grade middle school basketball team, placing second place in the region. After completing his high school education, Stan pursued his passion for photography. In addition, he also worked in multiple branches of the food and beverage industry. Currently, he is pursuing a degree in Hospitality management.
He is so thankful to be part of a community of people at Ultima where he can truly make a difference in the lives of others as he continues working to achieving his own personal goals.
Lynette came to Ultima Fitness in 1996 to teach group fitness classes, and for 17 of those years has taken on many roles, including Program Director, Fitness Director, and Wellness Director. As Ultima continues to expand and grow, Lynette strives to make a difference in our community through education, specialized services, and enhancing others’ well-being through a healthier lifestyle.
Lynette has continued to feed her passion for health, wellness, and fitness by providing exciting programming, working with a strong team of educated trainers who provide only top quality service, and generating meaningful lectures, programs, and services through our Wellness Center. “Wellness has always been a part of what we do. Now it is more widely accepted and understood how important wellness really is for quality of life.”
Wendi provides a genuinely caring and motivating support system for our members and those who are considering membership. She has assisted thousands of people to become part of the Ultima Fitness family. Swimming, hiking in the mountains and long walks on the beach are among Wendi’s favorite things.
She has continued to teach in some capacity since then as a certified Personal Trainer, Spinning and Pilates Coach. While teaching fitness and working as a Group Exercise Director she was also an NFL Cheerleader for the Atlanta Falcons. Carole received her Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy certification in 1993 while completing her B.S. in Organizational Communications. In 1998, Carole was recruited by The Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a Cheerleading Director and Choreographer to restructure the entire Cheerleading program from the ground floor. Carole has over 30 years of Dance experience and has choreographed routines performed with Santana, Shania Twain, Nelly, Toby Keith, Shaggy, MC Hammer to name a few.
After retiring from the NFL in 2002, Carole owned a family Chiropractic business while serving as a Group Exercise Director for two area gyms. She and her husband relocated to South Florida where she managed several departments over the years for Midtown Athletic Club including, Group Exercise Director, Pilates Director, and Engagement Director. Additionally, Carole holds a certification as a film maker and is an award winning professional SAG/AFTRA actress in film, television and theater.
Therese is a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do . As a long time student of the martial arts, she has had the opportunity to train under three different masters. Tae Kwon Do became an even bigger part of her life after marrying Grandmaster Pope in 1998. She has been a member of the Ultima/Xtreme Tae Kwon Do family since 2002. She always offers her full support to both our students and parents. Therese holds responsibilities in class as well as administratively. She is especially proud of their son Christian who is also a first degree black belt.
Bette works in the Tae Kwon Do department as an office assistant. She has been a member of our staff for almost nine years. Before moving to Florida, Bette worked in Manhattan for 20 years in the print production department of several different advertising agencies. She left that career after the birth of her first child. Bette and her family moved to Florida 11 years ago. Her two daughters began TKD with Grand Master Pope when they were four and seven years old. They are now both black belts; 2nd and 3rd degrees respectively.
While there, she was trained in classical ballet and other dance forms such as Martha Grahm modern dance, and Jazz. She has taught ballet since 2006 at M&M Dance Academy in Monroeville, PA and has also taught Mat Pilates at The Club Sport and Health since earning her certification through PHI Pilates in 2008. She has also been co-leader of the Greater Works Outreach Dance Ministry and danced often before the congregation. In November 2011 Kristen returned to her home company of Northeast Ballet in Schenectady, NY, and taught ballet for the school and danced and performed again with the Company in their annual Spring concert and annual production of The Nutcracker. She also participated in the Stories That Dance program that Northeast Ballet does in conjunction with Proctor’s Theatre. In addition to dancing and performing, Kristen taught Pilates at the Ciccotti Center in Albany, and also to the dancers at NEB. Upon moving to Wellington, FL Kristen has been teaching ballet and Pilates to students at dance studios in the area and is now teaching Barre classes at Ultima Fitness.
Gina was born and raised in the Philippines but moved to the United States in 1976. She’s been into fitness for over 30 years participating in various aerobic classes and light weight training. She started practicing yoga over ten years ago. She found that practicing yoga could lead to overall physical and mental well being. A few years ago Gina decided that she wanted to get certified and share this wonderful practice. In December 2012, Gina received a dual certification as a Prem Yoga Teacher and a Kripalu Yoga Teacher by completing a 200-hour comprehensive yoga-training course at the Prem Yoga and Wellness Center in West Palm Beach.
Lorraine has been a resident of Wellington since 1989, residing here with her husband and their son. Besides being an employee of Ultima since 1992, she owns an athletic footwear store in the Broward Mall. Since receiving her American Council on Exercise personal trainer certification in 1994, Lorraine has been actively training clients at all levels of physical abilities. Her work with the senior population has been expanded with her Silver Sneakers certification. For the past 2 years Lorraine has been teaching the Silver Sneakers class in the efforts to improve muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, and balance. Experience getting fit over 50, while moving to your favorite music!
Dara joined the Ultima family in September 2010 and teaches Cycle, Pilates and U-pump classes. She has been involved in sports and fitness for most of her life and became a certified cycle instructor with Schwinn and a certified Pilates instructor with PIA Pilates in 2005. She has been teaching group fitness classes since that time at several gyms in the West Palm Beach area.
Dara took her focus on fitness and health to another level in 2008 when she became a Wellness Coach. Through her company, Healthy Habits for Life LLC, Dara works with clients to guide them toward making long lasting, positive life changes.
Her expertise has been shared with thousands of viewers on WPTV, Newschannel 5 and Fox 29 News where Dara is a regular fitness and wellness contributor.
Dara's enthusiasm for fitness and wellness is contagious and her group exercise classes are fun and exciting, safe and effective.
Dara grew up in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY in 1988 with a B.S. in Nursing with a specialty in Orthopedics.
Teresa is a Peruvian native. She was born in the city of Callao and completed her high school education in Colegio Mary Flora. Spanish is her first language and she has been living in the United States for 16 years. Living in Wellington, married to Roberto and mother of two, Teresa is an energetic and positive woman that just loves to dance.
She remembers that since she was two, her mother would stand her on a chair so she could dance. Teresa became a Zumba trainer in 2012. Since then, she has been motivating people to exercise dancing the Zumba. Dancing and teaching are the highlights of her day. She enjoys teaching what she loves. As a natural dancer, she can dance basically anything!
Teresa became a member of Ultima in 2011 and has since made a lot of friends, sharing her Zumba knowledge and enthusiasm for the discipline. Teresa is so proud of being part of the teaching staff at Ultima Fitness!
Ryan Bishop L.Ac., LMT was introduced to the field of health care at an early age. His father is a Osteopathic Physician and had a very large family practice with over 70,000 patients for more than 20 years. Ryan has had the opportunity observing the ins and outs of clinical practice. Throughout this time he has noticed the many side effects caused by pharmaceutical medications and became interested in a more natural approach to health and wellness.
Ryan has over 13 years of hands on healing practice with hundreds of people from all over the globe. He is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist and has worked as a Paramedic for 4 years in Emergency rooms and driving ambulances. He attended Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine where he received his Masters Degree of Oriental Medicine in the highest standards of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Ryan has a strong ability to build and maintain quality care of clients/patients utilizing many modalities such as Tui Na, massage therapy, painless needle insertion, auricular therapies, food and nutrition therapy, certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils, herbal therapies, meditation, and much more. He has worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers helping out Western Medical Doctors who wish to integrate and compliment their treatments using a more natural and holistic approach.
Ryan Bishop practices, instructs Qigong/Tai Chi and has been involved in other martial and healing arts since he was a child. He has dedicated his life to helping people feel better and share with them techniques to bring the practice of health into their own daily lives.
My 30 plus years in the fitness industry have taken me full circle from group exercise instructor, to business owner, to management for a major chain of health clubs in New Jersey and back to group exercise instructor here in Florida where I've been living for six years. "Keep it fun, keep it interesting and keep it challenging" has always been my motto.
Kelly moved to Wellington in 2005 with her husband Chris and her four children, Christopher, Colby, Connor, and Cydney.
Growing up Kelly competed in track and Cross Country running. She continued running after college and competed in local races along with her five brothers and sisters. Her brother encouraged her to become certified in the fitness industry and Kelly has been teaching since 1992.
Motivating others to help them reach their fitness goals, whether it be in Step, Spinning, Pilates, Kickboxing, or U-Pump classes, is what Kelly loves the most.
As an enthusiastic endurance athlete, Jason firmly believes that health and wellness are a necessity in everyone’s life. With a background in organic foods and sustainable practices, he’s got an appetite for nurturing positive mindsets and a craving for goal-oriented exercise programs. Jason is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, has a Business degree graduating Magna Cum Laude, and has been a keynote motivational speaker. After relocating to the Sunshine State a few years ago, Jason rediscovered his passion for running. Frequently competing in race distances from 5K to the marathon, he often achieves top age group awards. Keep an eye out for him at local events. Jason is always looking for exciting new challenges and plans on competing in an Ironman Triathlon in the near future. “I am dedicating my life to educate, coach, and inspire my clients to create and sustain the healthy lifestyle they deserve.”
Sports and fitness have been a big part of Allison’s life and have helped shape her competitive nature, from playing soccer as a kid to running a marathon as an adult. She has always enjoyed exercise and leading an active lifestyle, but she discovered a passion for it when she walked into her very first cycling class while pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree at Brigham Young University. Fast forward a few years and that passion has led Allison to follow what she truly loves doing: helping others get fit, get healthy, feel better about themselves, and make fitness a way of life. Allison is an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor and an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer. She recently relocated to Wellington from the Sarasota area, where she worked for several years at the Lakewood Ranch YMCA teaching classes and training clients. She is also a Beachbody certified Turbo Kick and INSANITY instructor. She loves challenging workouts that are fun and deliver results! Her goal for every class is to have the members leave feeling stronger, tougher, and happier than when they got there—and drenched in sweat! Outside of instructing, Allison enjoys running and lifting weights, and her next fitness goals are to complete in an obstacle mud run and a triathlon. She is a Beachbody Coach, where she can help motivate and advise others who are on their own fitness and weight loss journeys. She is also a wife and mom to two girls who keep her busy throughout the rest of the day. And when she finds a moment to herself, she loves to read and go to the beach.
Bill, born in 1934, has been training seriously since 1988. He joined Ultima Fitness in February 1990 and trained under John Defendis, Mr. USA. Bill joined the Ultima staff in September 1997 and is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. “I care a great deal about my clients. My goal is to make each individual the best that he or she can be and to do everything I can to see that they attain their goals without injury.”
Born in Togo, a small West African country, Vinyon has always been active for most of her life. Her passion for fitness took a new turn after the birth of her second child, 9 years ago. Throughout her life journey, she has grown to understand the importance of fitness and nutrition in increasing the quality of life. Since then, she has helped many clients not only to attain their fitness goals but also to stay fit and healthy. As an ACE certified personal trainer, and an AFAA certified group fitness instructor, she makes it a personal goal to motivate her clients enough to instill in them the love of fitness for a lifetime commitment .
Grace has been with Ultima Fitness for over 20 years as an administrative director and personal trainer. She has experience working with a diverse group of clientele ranging from children to seniors. Grace has been very involved in children's sports and also has been known to play several different sports herself, including women's roller hockey. As a trainer at Ultima Fitness/Xtreme Tae Kwon Do she has trained both healthy clients of all ages, and those who have special needs due to an illness or handicap. Grace is very knowledgeable in exercise physiology and safety, and applies her knowledge "gracefully" but firmly to ensure the best and safest workout possible for her clients.
Greg is a Florida native. In 1995, he graduated from FIU with a degree in finance. Throughout his high school and college years, Greg wrestled and played tennis. He has always been a very active person, enjoying surfing, diving, and generally everything associated with the water. In July of 1999 he got his first taste of weight training. After a couple of years of training, Greg decided to become a personal trainer. He is currently certified by the I.F.P.A. as a personal trainer and a motivational specialist. “I became a trainer because I truly believe that a regimen of cardiovascular and resistance training, along with a proper diet, can make a dramatic change in the way you look.”
Currently certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Personal Trainer, Bob has held certifications by most of the major organizations over the past 20 years. As a competitive bodybuilder in the masters divisions he won titles such as Mr. West Palm Beach, Mr. Florida, and NPC National Champion. Bob is an engineering graduate from the University of Illinois and is retired from a 30-year career in the aerospace industry, designing and developing jet engines for the military. He was a gymnast and crew racer in high school and college, and coached baseball and basketball in Little League. Bob is a meat and potatoes trainer with no nonsense or frills. Just results!!
Jessy is a born and raised Floridian, who has had a love for fitness and exercise since childhood. She graduated from Wellington High School, attended classes here at Ultima, fell in love with the industry, and was very excited to begin her career in fitness. After moving to Fort Lauderdale and joining a local training center, Jessy learned how to lead group exercise classes for all formats and also became a certified personal trainer. She has worked in several spas, country clubs, and even health clubs. After recently leaving a large corporation as their district manager for several years, she is happy to once again be home in Wellington, with her husband and two children. Fitness has always been a part of her life and teaching others is her true passion. Jessy believes in staying up with the trends and not only keeping the workouts fun but also effective. She is certified in teaching group exercise through AFAS, and can lead indoor cycling, kickboxing, yoga, sculpting, step, Pilates, and the newest craze in fitness, Barre classes. “It is a pleasure to be part of the Ultima team, and I look forward to seeing you all in class!”
Jamie Tizol is a wife and mother of three(two teenage sons and a baby girl). She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY but recently relocated to Wellington, FL last than a year ago. She enjoys staying active with the kids, traveling, doing 5k runs and going to the beach.
Being Puerto Rican and Italian, music and dancing has always been a part of her life. She discovered Zumba in 2008 and completely fell in love with the class. She loved the fact that she can get a workout, have fun and feel like she’s at a party all in one! Therefore, in 2011 she decided to join Zumba Dance Fitness and became a licensed instructor. She has been teaching ever since and never thought it would turn out to be the best job in the world! She says,
She comes to Ultima with 15 years of personal practice and over 10 years of teaching in each of these areas. She began her path working as a Physical Therapist for about 2 years after then opting to change her practice to a more holistic approach. This is when she began working as a Spa therapist focusing more on treatments such as Thai Massage, Reflexology, Manual Lymph Drainage and Craniosacral Therapy. Tania uses her alternative healing treatments to help the body as a whole.
Erica has had a passion for movement that goes way back to her youth when she danced and was active in youth sports. She started teaching dance at the age of 16 and has been teaching some sort of class ever since. She received a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, with a minor in Wellness Promotion and holds a number of fitness certifications including NSCA-CSCS, FMS, YogaFit and BodyShred. Erica finds it most rewarding to see her clients achieve a high level of self-confidence as a result of their hard work and dedication. It is her goal to help clients find a love for themselves, for fitness and a love for the commitment to push themselves and reach their goals. She is passionate, enthusiastic and works to create a positive fitness experience. Her training style incorporates strength training, calisthenics and HIIT training and she will push you to go outside your comfort zone. Her teaching style will motivate you, educate you and push you to have fun and appreciate what you are doing for yourself.
Bonnie grew up in Pennsylvania where she was riding a horse before she could walk. While competing up and down the East Coast for most of her life, Bonnie also managed to become one of the top Cross Country runners in the State during High School and ran Division I in college. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in English and working as the Health and Fitness Editor for several years at Ocala Publications in Ocala, Fl, Bonnie relocated with her horses to Wellington in 2013. She is currently focusing the remainder of her studies on weight management and nutrition. Through gaining an in-depth understanding of how the human body responds to exercise, her goal is to educate and inspire others to be the best they can be. You’ll always see Bonnie at the area running races and competing her two horses at the Global Dressage Festival here in Wellington.
At the age of three, Stephanie was already involved in dance and sports in her hometown of Syracuse, NY, where she was born and raised. After completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Bachelor of Science in Spanish from The Pennsylvania State University, Stephanie moved to New York City where she happily pursed her passion of helping others obtain their ideal health and wellness for over 12 years. As a newer member of the Wellington community, she is eager to share her expertise and enthusiasm and takes pride in being part of the Ultima Fitness family.
The hometown girl who grew up right here in Wellington, Florida spent many years as a member of Ultima Fitness before coming on board as a staff member.
An avid outdoors-man as well as player of sports such as volleyball, swimming, surfing and track she is no stranger to adventure and activity. She was introduced to bodybuilding at the age of 17 and knew then that it was her niche. Schooled at the University of Central Florida specializing in Business Administration. Former club owner/entrepreneur she has a long background spanning nearly 14 years of training clientele, coaching, counseling and mentoring those looking to improve their physiques or compete at the competitive level.
Certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Current Women's Figure competitor for the NPC- National Physique Committee.
Power lifting background: Bench press 185 lb Squat 235 lb and Deadlift 315 lb.
Also a survivor of Chronic Lyme Disease she is always helping to spread the word to those suffering from chronic illness or any adversity how important mobility is as she lives it first hand every day! She takes fitness seriously with a dry sense of humor and quick wit. Her goals are to help engage and educate others on how they can make fitness of any level their own!
Maria always has had a passion for helping people reach their goals. After graduating from college with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. She worked with people that had various disabilities helping them reach their career goals for over 10 years. Her main motto was and still is, “If you believe it, then you can achieve it.”
Through her career coaching, she helped hundreds of people that had significant disabilities obtain a job. As an athlete for most of her life, she always had a passion for health and wellness and felt a calling to help people in another way, so she decided to pursue a Certification in Personal Training.
She obtained her certification from National Academy of Sports Medicine. She comes from a background of working closely with Chiropractors, developing programs that focus on functional movement exercise, increasing range of motion and mobility. She also has a passion for helping people achieve weight loss, offering daily accountability for all her clients, reminding them they are not alone in their fitness journey.
Natalia was born and raised in WPB. She has always had an active lifestyle as a competitive gymnast growing up. When she went to UCF for her first undergraduate degree she fell in love with fitness to help relieve stress. In 2010 she became certified to teach Spin and continued with her yoga practice. In 2011 Natalia embraced her Spanish side and became certified to teach Zumba. After graduating her first degree, Natalia began to shift time towards her yoga practice, not just the physical practice, but the spiritual aspect of yoga as well. In 2014 Natalia began her 200 hour teacher training at Bindu Yoga Studio and started teaching at her home studio upon completing her training. Natalia enjoys spending time with her family and yellow lab whenever she is not busy studying for her second bachelors in nursing
Courtney Minors is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian in the state of Florida. Originally from the beautiful island of Bermuda, Courtney obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Pre-Medicine at Dalhousie University in Canada. She then completed her Master of Science degree in Dietetics and Nutrition at Florida International University. At the 2010 British Dietetics Association Annual Conference, Courtney presented her original research and her abstract was later published in the international scientific Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Courtney has worked in a variety of settings and discussing nutrition with the community is one of her passions; as such she has given numerous nutrition lectures, cooking demonstrations & classes. Courtney also consulted with Island Physique (a personal training studio) to produce nutrition guidelines and meal plans specific for weight loss and overall wellness.
Courtney has studied and worked internationally in Bermuda, Brazil, Canada and the United States and brings her international exposure to her dietetic practice. She understands that no client is the same; as such she uses a holistic and individualized approach with clients through meal planning, supplement recommendations and health coaching. Courtney is an avid fitness enthusiast and enjoys long distance running, kick-boxing and strength training.
The love of the fitness industry was cultivated at an early age by Nicholas, or Nick, as those around him like to call him. Growing up, he threw himself into any sport he could, but he found his passion in baseball. He excelled here, and was presented with an opportunity to play on a Division one team, but chose to serve in the Marine Corps instead.
His experience in the military taught him the fundamentals of dedication, discipline, perseverance, and professionalism, which he carries through into any client interaction. Upon the completion of his service, Nick obtained his NASM, ISSA, ASFA, and advanced personal training certification. He wanted to bring his military experiences into the civilian workforce, so Nick also became a certified boot camp instructor.
His personal training style and boot camps reflect that of his involvement in the armed forces. Within any given session he will utilize a variety of techniques of sports specific and strength training. This will include but would not be limited to: kettle bell training, free weights, plyometric movements, TRX training, cardiovascular drills, HIIT training, band exercises, core training, and proper stretching.
Nick prides himself on instructing each client on the proper form of every movement performed, as to not only prevent injury, but to educate them as well. His goal is to have each client walk away from every session having learned a new skill that they can continue to apply and build upon. He takes the time to get to know each client personally, and be as knowledgeable as possible to the specific needs he or she may have. He is a firm believer that in order to achieve anything great, we must push past our comfort zone into unknown vulnerability.
Esiah received his Master trainer’s certification from International Sports Science Association (ISSA) in 2009 and has been training ever since. He also has a bachelor’s degree in occupational, physical, and trigger point therapy with 1 year of chiropractic practice from the University of Oklahoma (Sooners).
Esiah has experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness demands including weight loss, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, wellness coaching, and endurance training. Esiah was involved in wrestling (free style and greco roman), jeet kun doe, shaolin ru, and wing chun since the age of 8.
Esiah lives by this quote, "Motivation gets you through the door, but you need to have CDS: commitment, discipline, and strong habits, to achieve your goals. Which are small dreams with a due date."
