My Fitness Journey…to always get better

2011 was a very powerful year for me. It was the year that I could finally put myself first and give complete concentration and dedication toward my fitness journey.

Like so many of us, I had gained an undesirable amount of weight and really was not at my best physical fitness level but still I had a burning desire to persevere despite the obstacles that frequently surfaced.

I remember the day very clearly when I chose Ultima as my fitness Empire. With a warm welcome and an honest smile, Wendy made me feel at home. Little did I know just how much this gym would change my life forever.

I workedout day and night, taking two to three classes a day, spending hours upon hours training, not only to gain physical strength but to gain mental strength just the same.

I’ve learned so many things about myself and how far I can push my body. Every time I wanted to give up, I looked at other class members and saw how much they were pushing , I just couldn’t stop.

I knew that I had to step it up, that I was a leader and that I could do things that I never thought my body was physically capable of doing. I never thought my mind would ever be as strong as it is today.

Along this journey, I have met some really great Ultima members and equally phenomenal instructors. One specific instructor worthy to be mentioned is my mentor, Adam Rivera.

From day one, Adam was encouraging. He saw something special in me that I could not recognize in myself. He quickly took notice of the passion I possessed for Fitness. He helped to encourage and support my goals of becoming a group fitness instructor myself.

Adam, I will never be able to thank you or praise you enough for all your unconditional love and support. You mean the world to me! You inspire me everyday.

Other worthy mentions:

Dara – a pocket full of everything!!

Kelly – a burst of wow and then some.

Sharon – a tall glass of go gettem’ gurl.

Jaime – a splish splash of awesome Latina
flavor.

Carol – the taste of sugar N spice with all that is nice.

Teresa – a refreshing Latina treat…a force to be beat.

Sandy – sweet little lady with more flavor than gravy.

Allison – cutie patootie with a mean punch

Vinyon – smiling endurance queen

Erika – a wind full of spunky energy

Lynette – tranquility at its best with a lot of kick butt

You have all impacted my life and the lives of so many others. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you and I appreciate all you do.

Thank you to the entire Ultima stuff for this honorable mention.

Love
